You are an artist.
Every day gives you an opportunity to create something.
Every smile, word, expression, touch, phone call, text, comment, yes – every interaction with another living thing is a stroke of your paintbrush that leaves an impression on the canvas.
But the canvas is you; because each of us paints ourselves.
What’s on your palette? Do you need to mix or add some new colours? Cool blues? Warm yellows? A splash of reds or oranges? Where you put these colours is your choice.
When you make a mistake you can paint over it. You can cover it so it’s as good as gone. If the old paint has dried, it can now be painted over. What can you paint over in your life, and what colours will you use to paint over past faults? What will you choose to put over that old paint so the finished work will be more enjoyable to everyone, including yourself?
It doesn’t really matter how the old faults got there. Maybe you made a mistake, or maybe your work got smudged somehow by something entirely outside your control.
Maybe the paint is not yet dry and you can blot out the mistake with a wet cloth and just lift off the wet paint, wait awhile, and paint that space again when the time is right.
Or maybe you’ve been looking at a flaw for a long time, because you never knew just what to paint in its place. Instead of looking at the flaw, accept your role as artist and think about the possibilities of what you’d like that finished work to look like.
And then, get to work. Painters try to create feelings in those who see the piece. And each of us also creates feelings in the people around us.
Choose your colours and see what kinds of feelings you can create in the people who you are around today and tomorrow.
Now is a beautiful time to paint your future!
